Solar Array

I joined the BYU Compliant Mechanisms Research Group during the summer of 2013 for a so-called burst project. Tasked with harnessing origami for energy absorption, my team and I invoked sound product development practices to converge on a foldable, deployable, personal solar array. Capable of charging multiple cell phones, the solar array folds like origami down to a compact, fully-dense package. The solar array is modular, from a 2x2 layout up to ZxZ tiles. Recognizing the novelty of the product, BYU worked with us to file a patent on the invention. The patent is currently pending. Thanks be to my mentor Kevin Francis for teaching me passion for product development.
